Lyric Consulting Honored by 'Samantha's Harvest'

Lyric Consulting was recently honored for its work in support of Samantha's Harvest, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of Down syndrome.

Lyric's partners, Fred Van Magness and Meredith Warren, each received plaques proclaiming them to be "Samantha's Buddy" in recognition of their "outstanding support" for the organization.

"We are extremely honored by the recognition," said Van Magness and Warren of the award. "Samantha's Harvest is a wonderful local charitable group, and the work they do to raise awareness and funds for Down syndrome causes is vitally important. We are happy to support Samantha's Harvest and its activities, and it's our honor to assist the organization with its outreach."

Samantha's Harvest was started by Reading residents Robert and Lisa Gibbs in 2002. Their daughter, Samantha, was born with Down syndrome in 2001, and the couple wanted to do something to reach out to the community and promote awareness and understanding of Down syndrome. They also wanted to increase the inclusion of Down syndrome youth in education and other activities.

Since 2002, Samantha's Harvest has raised thousands of dollars in support of Down syndrome research and programs at Children's Hospital, the ARC of East Middlesex, the Special Olympics Golf Program of Northeast Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress, and several other local programs. The organization also has awarded several scholarships to young people who are seeking to enter careers in education to strengthen the education of individuals with Down syndrome.

Samantha's Harvest sponsors several fundraisers each year to support its activities, including an annual Comedy Night in March and a golf tournament each September.
